Description

Fred P is back as his soul soothing moniker Black Jazz Consortium, this time in a 3 part journey that completes the album "Codes and Metaphors". Part 1 builds on dreamy layers and nu jazz-esque keys all the while ringing with Fred's signature deep soundscapes. For "Free Your Mind" Fred teams up with Japanese vocalist Minako (who will later be debuting her own album for Soul People Music), the pair met a year ago at Tokyo's Club Eleven and gravitated toward a musical relationship very quickly. "Science and Art" has you pinching yourself to see if you are awake with its celestial keys and subconscious vocals, while "Kleem" hails some frisky snaps to keep you alert just in time to take in the wobbly bass line. The title track "Free Your Mind" gets a rework by UK's boundaryless Simbad, he adds a jumping baseline and distorts the sultry vocal to make it a little more floor friendly. Part 1 is meant to be smooth, emotive and provocative, Part 2 is set to dig deep and Part 3 cascades into the darkness… stay tuned.
